FRIENDSHIP
What a hectic two weeks we have had. Joy & myself have been in EXCHANGE
Brisbane for the Institute and Future Leaders Seminar and then coming
back for the Tri District Foundation Lunch and then last Wednesday
night the Australian Rotary Health Christmas dinner. I definitely need to
speak to our Director of Wellbeing and Health John Surian.
I would like to thank John Ching for filling in for me at the John Rotary Friendship Exchange is a
visitation program for Rotarians
Hewko Lunch, from what everyone has said John gave a very good and their families. The program allows
insight into where he plans to take Rotary over his next three years. Rotarians the opportunity to

Matching Grant Hand Over of Equipment for LAMB Hospital

The equipment has been handed over, a press release has been issued and we have been
promised 2 minutes of national TV time on Sunday afternoon as we had a TV film crew with us
at the handover.

Induction ceremony Rotary Club of Ramon Magsaysay
Keith received a copy of the induction ceremony from our sister club and I will pass it around at the next
meeting.
St Peters School, Uganda Purchase of School Van
Hi Barry,
I have just today received an email including photos of the van purchased for St Peter’s Junior School in Gulu,
Northern Uganda. This is a RAWCS project of the Club. The total amount raised was $21,500.
The ceremony for the graduation of children in school is on 26 Nov 2011 (this Saturday) and that will be the day
Rotary Club of Gulu will officially hand over the van to the school. Tomorrow Wednesday (23rd) Robert Opira
says he will be taking the vehicle to artist to write the name of the school on it and place stickers also on the
vehicle.
I thought that this information might be good for this week’s bulletin, especially with visitors attending our
meeting – we should have some hard copies of the bulletin available for visitors.
If I am able to get photos of the handover ceremony to be held on Saturday before the Monday’s meeting I will
endeavour to have some printed for circulation at the meeting.

School Van for LAMB School
Just a quick update:
A scouting purchasing expedition for the microbus took place in Dhaka over a couple of days last week involving
two LAMB staff (Transport, Purchasing). We now know generally what is available, and at what price. The
current plan is that when Joanne – Finance and Admin Director – arrives back from the Netherlands in mid-
November, the team will go out with her and purchase on the spot. We will need to add some to get a reasonable
vehicle, but we believe it would be an unwise buy not to
We will of course put signage on. We are very grateful
Thank you for the Disability support. It is not small. Money goes a long way for many things here. (I
think that A$ 6,000 would probably pay the salaries of 2-3 very skilled rehab/ disability workers). So, thank you all
!! I will confirm receipt when I get the statement from WMPL
Lastly, apologies for any extra delay currently that might come in correspondence from us. Joanne had to go
back urgently to the Netherlands last month because her father was seriously ill, and I currently have a medical
problem which has been taking time and could take me out of the country. (Hopefully, both for Joanne and I, the
end results will be fine)
