This document provides 25 creative ways that teachers can use the Comic Life software in the classroom. Some suggestions include having students create comics to explain a process or historical event, tell stories, conduct interviews, write biographies, and more. Various websites are provided as resources for each topic to help students gather information and find templates to use for their comic creations. The goal is to engage students through an interactive medium while supporting learning across subjects.

2. #1 Create a ‘how to…..’ http://www.howtoons.com/ This is a great site which gives examples of how comics are used to provide instructions Pupils can learn new skills by creating a ‘how to’.. This could be used for activities such as, science, craft and other practical activity.

3. #2 Write a travel guide or a travel poem What about writing a travel poem? Here’s a useful, site to get started with: http://www.ehow.com/how_4442770_write-trip-poem.html Why not paste your poem in to Wordle to create a word cloud.

4. #3 Carry out a project on a topic Pupils can combine images with text in a comic strip using information from a project task. Here’s a site with some templates to use: http://comic-life.wikispaces.com/Templates

5. #4 Explain how…. Create a comic to show how to use a flip camera with windows movie maker. This is one I created recently.

7. #6 Interview Pupils could create a comic based on an interview between two people.. The teacher can provide the questions which one of the characters will ask and the pupils have to research the answers for the other character. Pupils could also create their own questions on a subject and ask another pupil to find the answers.

8. #7 Write a story Creating comics is a great method to help pupils learn how to develop a story. It allows them to create a sequence, explore storylines and understand the use of characters, settings and dialogue. 12. #11 Write a biography of a person Comic Life is a very versatile programme. Try it to write a biography of a person. Here’s a fantastic site with examples of mind maps. 26. #25 Create a ‘superhero comic book’ Why not create your own superhero from this site: http://marvel.com/games/cyos Here’s my attempt. Children could produce several and create a story around them. Then create in Comic Life. Ideal for a ‘Myths and Legends’ theme.
