OUR OUR Focus  Developing independence: personally and in class  Developing a solid platform of literacy and numeracy skills  Developing  problem solving and thinking skills  Developing a greater awareness of the world around them.  Manage themselves in class: listening to and following instructions, being in the right place at the right time  Make good choices
Developing Developing Independence  Getting children to organise themselves when they get to school.  Allowing time in the morning to socialise with peers.  Waiting outside the classroom until 3:00 pm  Checking out children’s work after 3:00pm  Getting children to organise themselves when they finish school.
Literacy LITERACY in the class Literacy and numeracy make up a significant part of the programme. Main focus of programme in Year 1 & 2.  Literacy (Reading, writing) happens  5 days week. Children will bring home readers every night.   Readers need to be returned every day. No reader or book bag-no book.  G-Guided: Read in class, with teacher. Should be able to be read with some confidence.  I-Independent: At an easier level but some texts  can still challenge.

Numeracy NUMERACY in the class Numeracy and Algebra, Geometry, Measurement and Statistics.  Numeracy is the largest component of the maths programme.  Number knowledge is the foundation for all future learning. Statistics is a major strand focus for past 4 years.
BEHAVIOUR  BEHAVIOUR Management  Focuses on positives  Classes have come up with own expectations  Parents are informed of both appropriate and inappropriate behaviour  School Social Skills programme   Team approach to deal with inappropriate behaviour  Teachers support each other  Principal and AP support teachers
Parent Parent Helpers  Code of conduct for those wishing to get involved  Mainly on a needs basis but if you have skills in a particular area, let us know if there are any areas we can put you to use  Labelling and mending books  Help needed for EOTC opportunities
EOTC EOTC and swimming EOTC Week:   15th -19thMarch-Activities will run 1:30pm-3:00pm Safety First focus Swimming 23rd, 24th, 26th, 29th, 31stMarch, 1st April Cost will be around $30
Goal GOAL Setting  Interviews work between school-child-parents/caregivers   Literacy or Numeracy Goal + a personal goal  Look at WHY the child wants to achieve this goal then HOW they will go about it  It would be most beneficial if both parents/caregivers and child attend
GENERAL GENERAL Information Newsletters: School and syndicate newsletters go home on Thursdays. Can be accessed from the school website as well. Lunches: Purchased from the hall from 8:30am. Delivered to each syndicate at the start of lunch. Money: Any payments go through the office. Lost property: We have no bin. Make sure gear is named. Permission Slips: Please make sure all Daily Fitness and Computer Use agreements are returned to school.
