Quareo know your network intro presentation v2 1
1. Welcome to the TE Connectivity introduction to Quareo. We’d like to introduce you
to a revolutionary new network technology named Quareo.
DOC-ID 1
2. This network map is representative of what most of today’s network management
systems are capable of reporting about the physical structure of your network.
Active devices such as switches, routers and PCs are visible and can be managed
by your existing network management system and their connections to each other
are implied as illustrated. We use the term “implied” when referencing the physical
layer connections…is this network map accurately depicting the physical layer, and
is the physical layer in any sense “manageable” via the network management tools
available to you today? The answer to both of those questions has historically been
no…until now.
2
3. This is a representation of the network infrastructure today, as we know it. If you
were able to document your network to this level of detail, it was the result of
manual spreadsheet documentation which is subject to human error.

4. This is a more realistic representation of the network infrastructure with Quareo in
your network. The Quareo Managed Connectivity solution featuring Connection
Point Identification enables automated, 100% accurate real-time visibility to the
structure of the physical layer and provides management of the physical layer never
before possible.
The core of Quareo resides in the following:
Each connector contains a chipset with a unique id along with
detailed information about the given cable assembly
Network (Patch) panel ports detect presence of no connector,
a standard passive connector, or a CPID enabled connector
System knows for certain which two ports are
connected, does NOT rely on a human input
The software uses the unique connector and cable assembly
IDs to ensure an accurate database

What defines a “successful” network? Several Key Performance Indicators come to
mind. The first is OPEX. If you could be more efficient in documenting and
troubleshooting your network, that would be beneficial. How about network
security? Do you have to answer to network security regulations such as HIPPA,
SOX, or PCI? Real-time documentation and tracking of the physical layer would
invariably help meet those requirements. Perhaps the most obvious KPI is network
availability – EVERYONE knows when the network is down or is operating poorly.
The value proposition of the Quareo solution speaks to each of these performance
metrics, and many more.

There are three key concepts that convey the value of the Quareo solution. The
first is CPID, which is the foundation of the Quareo solution. CPID assigns unique
identifiers and other pertinent information to each connection point within the
physical layer.
CPID enables “Managed Connectivity” – a level of physical layer visibility and
management previously unattainable. Network access and usage policies can now
be extended to a previously inaccessible portion of the network infrastructure – the
Physical Layer.
Lastly, the Quareo Managed Connectivity database is of an open architecture
ensuring easy access to the physical layer information for use in a a variety of
network management tools or custom applications via a Software Development Kit.

7. A wealth of information is supplied by CPID technology. Each of these data points
can provide invaluable information in support of the “Managed Connectivity” concept
that is unique to Quareo.

Note that Quareo CPID Technology is implemented using standard RJ45, LC and
MPO connector footprints and all connectivity management data collection is
completely isolated from the data traffic flowing through the physical layer.
Please visit our website at www.knowyournetwork.com so you can see the full line
of Quareo copper and fiber products. Our team members will gladly explain how
each of these pieces of information can help streamline the management of your
network.
