18. MAYA CHICHEN ITZA Chichen Itza: --On Yucatan Peninsula; the city covers 6 sq. miles --Itza were a later, northern group of Maya --There had previously been a sacred well here; the name means “ well at the mouth of the Itza.”
26. NAZCA CULTURE NAZCA LINES: A series of figures (mostly animals) and abstract markings drawn into the desert floor, some almost 2000 years old. Of immense size—some of the figures are well over 300 yards across and some of the abstract designs are over a mile and a half long. “ GEOGLYPHS”
