2. Male costume plan
The plan for the male costume in my music video will be a basic
plain black t shirt with dark grey skinny jeans. I have decided to use
this for the male antagonist first of all as the colour scheme
matches the genre conventions for this video, as the song
Boulevard of Broken Dreams expresses loneliness as a big part of
the song and a feeling that I aim to be a prominent feeling in my
video. I have deliberately chosen dark and basic colours in order to
blend in with the dark atmosphere of my video, with the plain
colours also being chosen as to not draw too much attention away
form the emotional performance of the actors in the video. I have
selected skinny jeans for the costume as this style is a common
convention in music today and is another link to the mise en scene
conventions in alternative rock today in particular, as many
performers choose to wear skinny jeans as they perform. Another
reason I’ve selected this costume is that it matches the costume of
the costume of the male’s female counterpart in the video, hereby
distinguishing a clear link between the two characters, with the link
and relationship between the two being one of the main aspects of
the video I would most like to emphasize. Depending on weather
on the day of shooting our male actor will be allowed to wear a
black jacket or coat for their own comfort if it is particularly cold or
wet, in order to prevent ay health risks while the colour of the
clothing will still stick to the theme of the rest of the costume as
3. Female costume plan
The female antagonist in my video will be
wearing a black dress along with dark
makeup in my music video. As explained in
the previous slide, the dark colours I have
chosen will be used in order to reflect the
darker nature of the video and the loneliness
that I will be trying to portray. Unlike the male
protagonist, the female actor in my video will
be wearing dark makeup that will match the
rest of her costume, something that will
hopefully draw attention to her face, making
her emotional performance stand out more.
The female actor will also be wearing her hair
back in order to keep it from blocking the
view of her face, once again to draw the
attention of the audience to her facial
expressions while she is on screen.
