28. Leaders Speak
Amy Fowler: “After working in other buildings, Benton provides a supportive, instructional
environment where I feel like I can ask for improvement and get help. They challenge me to be an
instructional leader.”
Matt Tabor: “I’ve learned to value our school’s open door policy being accessible to students and
parents. The demands and expectations for leaders are great here, but I am challenged to achieve and
supported as I try. I feel like I am believed in both as a teacher and as a coach.”
Ronnie Knight: “Being challenged and offered the opportunity to grow in leadership has been
incredible for me. Instead of pointing fingers and telling me what’s wrong, I am encouraged to
problem solve. I have a voice. I also feel I have constant backing from our administration. I am never
told ,’No” but always asked to consider other scenarios for more beneficial solutions. This grows my
confidence as a leader.”
Annie Roseberry: “I feel I have grown as a leader by being allowed to learn as an Admin Intern. I was
also encouraged and supported in trying to develop my program to fight obesity. I have been able to
learn new aspects of the profession through hands on learning and able to test the waters of
administration.”
Michael Dial: “I have been given the opportunity to serve as Admin Intern. I’ve had deep, meaningful
conversations about school leadership issues that impact me and other staff members. I’ve been
encouraged to try new ideas...and the administration has served as mentors and references in my quest
to be an AP next year.”
