2. Gardner developed a theory of multiple
intelligences, instead of asking, “how smart are
you?” ask, “how are you smart?” (1999).

3. Gardner’s theory is based on a minimum of
eight different intelligences,
Musical
Bodily kinesthetic
Logical-mathematical

Spatial
Interpersonal
Intrapersonal
Naturalist

4.  Skills in tasks involving music.
Ex: Yehudi Menuhin, at age 3, his parents
frequently smuggled him into the San Francisco
Orchestra. Menuhin was an international
performer by 10 years old.

5.  Skills in problem solving and scientific
thinking.
Ex: Barbara McClintock, describes her
breakthrough after thinking about a certain
problem for 30 min. Won the Nobel Prize in
medicine.

6.  The ability to identify and classify patterns in
nature.
Ex: People that can distinguish between large
numbers of similar objects, like people who
lived in prehistoric times, and hunters, used
this intelligence to determine what they could
use for food.

7.  Skills involving spatial configurations, such as
those used by artists and architects.
 artists, rarely get lost, imagine things very
vividly, use metaphors, and "look at the big
picture" when solving problems.

8.  The knowledge of the internal aspects of
oneself; access to one’s own feelings and
emotions.

9.  Skills in using the body or various in the
solution of problems or in the construction of
products or displays, exemplified by
dancers, athletes, actors, and surgeons.

10.  Skills involved in the production and use of
language.
 Poets, writers, and public speakers.

11.  Skills in interacting with others, such as
sensitivity to the moods, temperaments,
motivations, and intentions of others.
