This document describes two case studies of Safety of workers in tunnels under construction, using cost effective active RFID tags. One case, in the London Crossrail, uses a sophisticated software in web server and a network of antennas and IP receivers to control the last position of workers. The second one, in the tunnels of the “Y” Basque high speed trains, easily control the just the presence of workers in the tunnels by an standard software suite from Bioaccez, that could be combined with IP video and keypads, proximity readers etc..
