The document summarizes and analyzes three movie trailers:
The Matrix trailer uses slow, tense music that builds to match the faster editing and increase tension for the sci-fi plot. It reveals the main character without giving too much of the story away.
The Hangover trailer starts very upbeat with comedy in the first 10 seconds to engage audiences and make them laugh at the worst situation of not remembering the night before. It shows clips of each main character to give a sense of who they are.
P.S I Love You's trailer very effectively uses music to define the mood and feel of the characters and film. The main characters are clearly identified and the handwritten font ties into the story of writing letters
2. THE MATRIX
The Matrix matrix is a Sci-Fi film. The music starts
of very slow and quite as the words appear on
the screen. The music then builds in tension and
gets quicker. The editing also becomes faster. I
think this is done specifically for a sci fi to make it
easier to understand as they can become
confusing. I think this trailer makes the plot line
good to understand without giving too much of
the film away. Also it confidently shows who the
main character is which is important in film
trailers. The font has been used well to make it
seem futuristic and mysterious.
3. THE HANGOVER
The Hangover
The hangover starts very upbeat and comedy is
used within the first ten seconds. The music is
very upbeat also which makes the audience more
engaged to laugh at the trailer. In the worst of
situations (waking up not remembering the night
before) the trailer has cleverly been done with no
voiceovers or text to make it funny. A variation of
clips are shown to give the audience a rough idea
of each of the main characters and the type of
person they are.
4. P.S I LOVE YOU
P.S I Love You
This film trailer has been done very well and music
has been used to really define the mood of the
characters and the feel for the film. The main
characters are very clearly marked so it is obvious
which ones they are. Also the font is like handwriting
so ties in with the story line of writing letters.
