This is a simple step by step how-to guide on how to submit your local business information to Yahoo! Local.

2. Step 1: Open your internet browser and go to listings.local.yahoo.com/overview.php and
click on the Sign Up button.

3. Step 2: Next you will need to sign in. You are given 3 options; Sign in Facebook, Google, or
a Yahoo! account. Use whatever you prefer, but for this how-to we will be using Gmail.

4. Step 3: A small pop-up window will show up on your computer screen that will look
like very similar if not the same as this picture. Enter in your email address and
password for Gmail and click on the Sign in button.

5. Step 4: You will now have to Allow to collect some information from your Gmail
account which is listed on the page. Click on the Allow button and leave the box
checked that says “Remember this approval.”

6. Step 5: Yahoo! will also ask for your birthday, enter in your date of birth and click
on the Continue button.

7. Step 6: The small pop-up window will disappear and you will be taken to Yahoo’s Local
Submission Dashboard. The first area you see is the Account Contact Information. Enter in
your contact information, it’s also important to note that this information WILL NOT appear
in your listing. Enter in your contact information in these areas and continue on to step 7.

8. Step 7: It’s time to open up your NAP document so you can enter in your business information by copying and pasting. If you prefer to enter in the text field by
field, go ahead!
-Business name: Enter in the legal name of your business.
-Business phone: Add your local phone number. Local phone numbers are preferred to toll free numbers.
-Address: Enter in the address of your business. If you do not serve customers at your business location, check the box below the address that will not
display your address on Yahoo! Local.
-Business email: Enter in your company email address. This email address will be on the local listing, so if you do not wish to share the email address, leave
the field blank.
-Web site: starting with http:// enter in your company URL. If you are an e-commerce only company, check the box that says “Online-only business.”
-City: Enter in the city that your business is located in.
-State: From the drop down available, select the state that your business is in.
-Zip code: Enter in the zip code of your business.
-Primary Category: Categories with Yahoo! Local are different than Google, as you can not add custom categories. Enter in 3 letters of your primary
keyword or category to see the categories that are available. Find as many categories as you can that are relevant to your industry. You can have up to 5
categories total. After you have added your categories, double check the information you have entered and click on the Continue button.

9. Step 8: You will now be given the opportunity to enter in optional information to your listing.
The more information you enter, the better.
-Additional Business Information: Enter in as much information as you can for this
section. If you have a toll free number and a fax number, go ahead and enter it.

10. Step 9: Hours of Operation: Fill out section accordingly.

11. Step 10: Other Operation Details:
-Year established: Enter in the year your business opened.
-Professional Associations: Enter in any professional associations that your company is a part of. The BBB, your local chamber of commerce, industry
related associations, etc.
-Brands carried: If your company stocks or sells certain brand names be sure to include them in this section to let potential customers know what brands you
do or do not carry.
-Languages: Enter in the languages that you or any of your employees speak fluently.
-Products and services: You can either enter in your short description from your NAP document or you can enter in the services (keywords) you do and
separate each by commas.
-Specials: If you have an ongoing special, be sure to enter to add it. When you have finished entering in all of this information, click on the Preview Listing
button.

12. Step 11: This is an active preview of your listing and what it will look like on Yahoo! Local.
Go through it to make sure all of the information is correct. If changes need to be made, you
will have the opportunity to make them before submitting your listing for editorial review.
Click on the Close Preview button to both make changes and/or to submit your information.

13. Step 12: If you are ready to submit, enter in the captcha code that is shown on your screen
and check the box that says you agree to Yahoo! Local’s TOS and click on the Submit
Information button.

14. Step 13: It is now time to verify your local listing with Yahoo! The easiest way to verify your
listing is to go ahead and receive a verification code by email. If you prefer to use another
verification method, it is entirely up to you. For this how-to we will be using verification by
email. After clicking on the email verification method click on the Send By Email button.

15. Step 14a: When you receive the verification email from Yahoo! there will be a
code inside of it. Copy the code and go back to the listing page to enter in the
code. Enter in the verification code and click on the Verify Code button.

17. Step 15: After the page refreshes you will be redirected to the Yahoo! Marketing
Dashboard. Your listing will then be placed into a pending review status which usually
takes 3-5 business days before going into a publish pending phase. The overall process
takes less than 2 weeks in most cases.
