 Ensure a revision schedule is planned well in advance.

 Get involved with the revision process.

 A balance between study and leisure time is essential.

Examination Reform
 Linear Examinations – For two-year GCSE courses
beginning in September 2012, all external exams will
have to be done at the end of the course. Re-sits of
    individual modules will end.
 Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation - Marks for
accurate spelling, punctuation and use of grammar will
be awarded in exams that have a sufficient written
English element – English literature, geography, history
    and religious studies.
 Vocational Qualifications reviewed – BTECs will now
feature an element of external assessment and
equivalency to GCSE has been reviewed.

Examination Reform
 Controlled assessment - internal assessments
and not part of the exam cycle, so the timing
of these will not be affected by the change.
However, Ofqual are looking separately into
issues that schools have raised regarding the
    implementation of controlled assessment.
 A more rigourous assessment – less bite sized
    and a raised bar?
 Proposal - EBCs will be taught from 2015.
 Potential changes to A Level from 2014 - ABacc

   different ways
 byoffering a range of qualifications that are
   widely understood

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Point 2 – Customer service skills, STEM skills, self management, business awareness, Creative thinking Point 3 – 1/5 jobs now requires a degree, 70% of jobs in professional services
  2. Point 1: Big area of growth here needs to be apprenticeships. Foundation Year for L2 learning at GA but college provision is popular with those students who recognise college will provide them with the best route to their desired careers. Ebacc has to be at C grade or above Facilitating subjects for Russell Group Universities – provide grounding for more to study these at A Level Explain L1 & L2 Progression is essential to us with vocational courses
  3. L1 & L2 explained if necessary
  4. Progression within a comprehensive route
  5. Progress monitoring – checking all along that students are making the progress expected and need to move on to the next stage – intervention to apply if not progressing
