Government has an obligation to protect the welfare of children, elderly people, and people with disabilities by setting standards that ensure that all workers can meet their commitments at work and at home. That means making a flexible work schedule and paid sick, family, and parental leave available to all workers regardless of income. Fair labor standards will make both families and the national economy healthier and more productive.
