A book. Книгу. (verb 'assumed' from context) книгу : (ke'nee'goo) : (reading a) book
She's reading a book. Она читает книгу. After verb, last letter 'a' книга : (ke'nee'ge) : book
usually changes to 'y'.
( This is a book. ) ( Это книга. )

Placing name or pronoun before
(What's she reading?) (Что она читает?) or after verb, is flexible. её : (yee'yoa) : her
A letter. Письмо. его : (ye'voa) : his
She's reading a letter. Она читает письмо. их : (ee'khe) : their
(Nina's reading a letter.) (Нина читает письмо.)
( This is a letter. ) ( Это письмо. ) письмо : (peesmoe) : letter
Note that for neuter gender objects,
the ending doesn't change.

That's Maxim. Это Максим.
Where's his sister? Где его сестра? где : (g'dya) : where
She's at home. Она дома. здесь : (sdiez) : here

And where's their mother & father? там : (tam) : there
