3. History of Baklava
•Baklava came from ancient Greek or from
Byzantine or whether from the nomadic
times of Arabs and Turks , it is clear that
what we now define as classical baklava had
taken its elaborate form during the Ottoman
period.

5. Ingredients

• For the Baklava:
1 lb. of chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pistachios are best, or
use a combination of them)
• 1 lb of phyllo dough
• 1 cup of butter, melted
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
• For the syrup:
• 1 cup of water
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1/2 cup of honey
• 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
• 1 cinnamon stick
8. Serving Suggestions
• Before serving. Re-cut the pieces, making
sure to cut all the way to the bottom so
they can be taken out more easily. Some
people like to add some vanilla ice cream
on top of their piece, others like fresh fruit
on the side and then there are others like
my who like it just the way it came out of
the oven.
