The student spent their summer working as a research assistant with a philosophy professor on a book examining the ethics of food and food choices. Their research involved reading books and documents on farming and food systems and arranging visits to local farms. As a result, the professor has begun drafting the book and the student has written an article. The student also volunteered in India with an NGO, teaching English and participating in cultural activities. While not formal academics, the experience complemented their philosophy studies by allowing them to consider questions of human rights and justice from a first-hand perspective.
