Inheritance due to genes located in cytoplasm is called cytoplasmic inheritance. Since genes governing traits showing cytoplasmic inheritance are located outside the nucleus and in the cytoplasm, they are referred to as plasmagenes.

GENETICS CYTOGENETICS Definition of Linkage, Coupling and Repulsion hypothesis, Linkage group- Drosophila, maize and man, Types of linkage-complete linkage and incomplete linkage, Factors affecting linkage- distance between genes, age, temperature, radiation, sex, chemicals and nutrition, Significance of linkage. The tendency of two or more genes to stay together (i.e., the co-existence of two or more genes) in the same chromosome during inheritance is known as LINKAGE. The linked genes are present on the same chromosome are said to be SYNTENIC. The linked genes do not show independent assortment. LINKAGE v/s INDEPENDENT ASSORTMENT The frequency of linkage or the strength recombination is influenced by several factors (agents).

This is a phenomenon when one gene controls more than one trait , the traits may be related .Generally one gene's product acts for many reactions and so can affect more than one trait. Examples can be seen in pea Coloured flower and pigmentation in leaf axil, frizzle trait in chicken, fur colour and deafness in cats,Human pleiotropic traits are PKU,Sickle cell Anaemia. Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Passed from parents to offspring, DNA contains the specific instructions that make each type of living creature unique. The term chromosome comes from the Greek words for color (chroma) and body (soma). In the present slide, the structural chromosomal aberration is discussed. The diseases caused due to such aberrations are also explained. Hope you all enjoy. Feel free to comment if have any further clarifications.

chromosomal disorder, any syndrome characterized by malformations or malfunctions in any of the body's systems, and caused by abnormal chromosome number or constitution. A chromosome disorder results from a change in the number or structure of chromosomes. ... Structural abnormalities This is when large sections of DNA? are missing from or are added to a chromosome. Structural abnormalities can take several forms. Deletion: a mutation? causing part of the chromosome to be missing. When we talk about genetic disease, the first thing that come in our mind is "Down Syndrome". Down syndrome: is a genetic disease that comes from a meiotic nondisjunction in the DNA of the divided cell, so cause a three chromosomes in the Number (21). Down syndrome is continuous with the life of person, and the patient needs a special care from his society, family, and even his country. In this report, I will discuss everything about "Down Syndrome", causes, symptoms, diagnosis and even treatment. I will also mention some samples of people with Down syndrome who did interesting things in our world. The maternal age is one of the most common cause of Down Syndrome, sometimes the radiation causes this syndrome or increase its risk. No treatment is known for Down Syndrome, but they can be rehabilitated for life. Finally, I hope you enjoy and take benefit from this report, and know everything about this common disease which is very difficult to get along with normal people
