2. The goals of our book are:
• For students to explain each of the 6+1
Writing Traits
• For students to determine effective writing
by analyzing writing samples
• For students to apply the 6+1 traits in their
own writings.
4. How to Use Our Book….
Teachers can use our Bookbuilder book to introduce,
teach, and/or review the 6 Traits with students. Since
the character Ivana shows an example of her writing
and how her writing develops and changes with the use
of the 6 Traits, it is meaningful to students. The self
assessment questions guide students in becoming
independent assessors of their own writing.
5. How the Book is Organized…
For each trait you will find 3 pages…
• First page will show the trait being introduced
and explained by the Fairy to Ivana.
• Second page will show Ivana applying the trait
to her writing.
• Third page will show questions for the writer
to ask him or herself in order to self-assess his
or her writing in the use of the trait.
6. The Coaches…
Our Bookbuilder book has two
“coaches” to assist throughout the
book.
The first coach, “Tina Trait,” helps to
teach the traits to the students. You
will click on Tina on the bottom left of
the page that she appears to hear her
speak.
The second coach, “Reminder Rob,”
will provide tips and feedback in the
use of the 6 traits. Click to hear him
speak, as well.
7. The ADDIE Process & 6 Traits
