What is the Champion’s League?
Finding, nurturing and working with Champions has proven to be a tremendous
help in moving the workforce participation agenda forward and creating positive
changes in the employment situation for people who have a disability.
The Champion’s League is a group of business men and women who have come
together to play a leadership role in promoting the inclusion of people who have a
disability in the workplace. Based on their personal experiences, Champion’s
League members have made a commitment to promote and demonstrate to their
peers, the benefits of including people who have a disability in the workforce.
The Champion’s League works in partnership with the Ontario Disability
Employment Network.
What is the Champion’s League Award?
When we encounter such Champions, it is important that we, in turn, recognize
them for their efforts. Recognition for these individuals, who do an outstanding job
of workforce inclusion, also brings recognition to the cause that we are promoting.
Champion’s League Awards will be given out each year at the Ontario Disability
Employment Network’s annual conference and AGM (provided nominations are
received and winners selected).

2. What is the criteria?
The Champion’s League awards are determined based on three simple, but
important criteria.
1. The first criteria is, Leading by Example – the employer has demonstrated a
commitment to include people who have a disability in their workplace.
2. The second criteria is that the employer has Championed Hiring People Who
Have a Disability by promoting this to others in the past; and,
3. The third criteria is that they have made a Commitment to Continue to help
move this agenda forward. That they are willing and able to work with the League
and the Ontario Disability Employment Network to develop future plans and
strategies that will convince other businesses to hire people who have a disability.
Who can nominate an employer?
Nominations can be submitted from ODEN Members in good standing and
previous award winners
Who judges the Champion’s League Awards?
Award winners and new inductees to the Champion’s League will be judged and
selected by their peers. Each of the business champions who comprise the League
will review all nominations and determine the award winners, thereby expanding
the league over time.
