5.  Situational irony happens when a
situation turns out differently than you
expected.
 Examples: The police chief’s son is
arrested for armed robbery. The
firehouse burns to the ground. A prank
backfires on the prankster.

7.  Dramatic irony happens when the
audience or reader knows something
that the character does not know.
Example: In a horror movie the
audience knows the killer is hiding
in the closet, but the characters do
not.
