Overview Brief Survey The Concept of Portfolios Introduction to Google Sites (dual functions) Sample Efolios Starting your own Efolio
1. Brief Survey We have to know who the techies and portfolio experts are in our class.Take 2 minutes and turn & talk.  Do you have any experience creating a website? Have you used a wiki before? Which course management systems (CMS) are you familiar with (e.g., Classweb, Moodle, Blackboard)? Have you ever created a portfolio?  Have you ever used one with your students?
2. The Concept of Portfolios With your partner, go to the RESOURCES page on the efolio site. Choose 2 out of the 7 links and browse a couple of minutes and answer the following: What are the different types of portfolios and what purposes are they used for? How will the content of your portfolio differ from a portfolio you would use in your language class? What are some general guidelines for creating a portfolio?
Course Portfolios[Adaptedfrom: http://ftad.osu.edu/portfolio/] contain materials related to a particular course (e.g., syllabi, course materials, sample assignments,explanation for the rationale behind your assignments, reflections on how teaching methods and course materials help students learn).
Professional Portfolios[Adaptedfrom: http://ftad.osu.edu/portfolio/] contain materials and documents that can be submitted for the purpose of application promotion/tenure (e.g., scholarly work, your research progress, teaching experience and accomplishments, record of academic service).
Teaching Portfolios: 2 Types[Adaptedfrom: http://ftad.osu.edu/portfolio/] summarize your teaching accomplishments, provide examples of classroom materials; serve as space for reflecting upon teaching 1. Summative = for purpose of applying for academic job/promotion/tenure within department 2. Formative = for purpose of personal and professional development

Starting your own Efolio…Nota Bene: Youcannotinclude observation notes or anything that comes from someone else – you need to get permission if you want to include anything other than their own work. You should not upload any attachments – copy and paste the textin a new page instead.  Make sure you don’t use “TCSOL lingo” but use general language that is easy to understand by non-TC people.
