online community is a group of people that
primarily interact through a computer network.
Online Communities are used in such programs
as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and
Myspace.com. Users can interact with online
communities through text-based chat rooms, and
forums that use voice, video text or avatars.

Users can also learn, do business and trade
stock through a online community.

There are 4 types of online community
participants
Lurker
Newbie
Regular
Moderator/Expert

Lurker- A user observes the community and its
content. For example they can go on to myspace
and watch videos. But does not comment on
them.

6. Online Community
Newbie– A user that interacts with the
community, by commenting on a video or profile.
Or even posts a video

7. Online Community
Regular– A user that becomes involved in the
communities discussion and content by
commenting on Blogs, profiles, and videos. This
user will also post videos more frequent than a
newbie.

8. Online Community
Moderator/ Expert– A User that is highly involved
with the online community. This user frequently
posts their own blogs and videos. This user does
not view blogs and videos just to view, they view
to comment on them also.
