4. What is Donation? When 13-year-old Danni was killed in a motor vehicle accident, her family chose donation. A 10-year-old boy and a 28-year-old woman received the gift of sight thanks to the generosity of Danni’s gift. Many more lives were touched through the family’s donation of bone. In addition, Danni was an organ donor.

8. Bone & Connective Tissue Christina received a bone graft to treat periodontal disease Gerry, shown here with his son, has had both knees treated with patellar allograft transplants. Kristen was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a fast growing bone cancer. The cancerous section of bone was removed & a bone graft was used to save her arm.

10. Skin Donation Lt. Col. Brian Birdwell, U.S. Army, survived burns over half of his body suffered on 09/11/01 at the Pentagon. Pictured are LTC Birdwell and his wife meeting a member of the TSC staff. TSC provided skin allografts to the Washington Hospital Burn Center on 09/11/01 .

16. Eye Donation Kimberly, 28 and Bailey, 2 are both recipients of cornea transplants. Kimberly has received one transplant from a 13 year old. Bailey has received two transplants – one donor was a 6-year-old while the other came from a 48-year-old.
17. Eye Donation There is a higher demand for corneas than there are transplantable donations in North Texas.
