Cara Mullen has worked as Chief Scientific Advisor for Sustainable Technology Systems for over three years. During her time there, she helped research the use of cattails as an alternative fuel source and discovered innovative processes to control microbes. She has co-authored several books and papers on topics like making fuel ethanol and construction safety compliance. Cara has a diverse educational background across multiple disciplines including ethanol production, microbiology, and analytical chemistry. She holds various certifications in areas such as wastewater management, cytogenetics, and fuel testing.

To Whom It May Concern:
The following letter of recommendation reflects a portion of the skills and benefits available when working with Cara
Mullen. Cara has served as the ChiefScientific Advisor for Sustainable TechnologySystems for the pastthree and a
half years. As a small R&D group,we work toward the bettermentof environmental issues—primarilywithout
imbursementas we move forward in our studies ofalternative bioenergy. Much of our focus during the pastthree
years has been in working with Typha latifolia (cattails) as an alternative fuel (starch) source in making fuel ethanol as
contracted by the Otero County Commissioners in New Mexico. During our research,Cara and I discovered an
innovative application ofenvironmentallyfriendly, energy efficient processes to control microbes. We look forward to
process application with numerous biomass feedstocks.
Additionally Cara and I co-authored a number ofbooks and papers. The mostrecentpublication is BioenergyTips
for Trials:A Procedure Manual for making fuel ethanol. The publication Construction and Demolition Safety offers
compliance and basic instruction for industrial and small-scale compliance. This manual includes a comprehensive
guide to federal, state and local regulatory awareness.
As you are aware,Cara’s diversified background has included multiple disciplines allowing her to participate in a
number oflevels of analytical chemical and microbiological challenges. Among her listof areas of interestthat may
apply to your needs are:Ethanol, Cytogenetics,Laboratory, Biology, Microbiology, Algae, Biofuels,Analytical
Chemistry. Her credentials include certifications in wastewater management.pathologyassisting,Cytogenetics,
ethanol production, fuel testing, fermentation, and distillation. Additional specialties include laboratorytraining,
ethanol plantprocess training and troubleshooting, yeast propagation/nutrientmerchandizing,methanator nutrient
sales,enzyme sales,chemical sales,antibiotic sales,public health,chemical safetytraining,and wastewater
certification and engineering.
I am available for a telephone conference concerning Cara ifyou would like to visit further.
