elderly, particularly those with cognitive impairment, delirium or
dementia. Recognizing and treating their pain presents special challenges.
During this presentation, we will discuss the effects of under-treated pain,
methods to assess pain in individuals who are unable to communicate, and
effective medications and non-drug therapies for pain management in this
