Low Power Freescale Kinetis KL46:
Introduction
The M2M & IoT module is a Freescale Kinetis Microcontroller based board with multiple usage applications.
The board features Kinetis Low power controller MKL46Z256VLL4 with ARM Cortex M0+ Architecture. ARM
Cortex M0+ processors are found to consume low power with greater efficiency.
The microcontroller has a maximum operating frequency of 48 MHz, 256KB flash, 32KB RAM, USB OTG
controller, segment LCD controller, major communication interfaces, analog and digital peripherals.

Freescale Kinetis K70:
DESCRIPTION:
The M2M & IoT module is a Freescale Kinetis Microcontroller based board with
multiple usage applications. The board features Kinetis K series controller MK70FN1M0VMJ12 with ARM
Cortex M4 Architecture. The microcontroller has a maximum operating frequency of 150 MHz, 1MB flash,
128KB RAM, USB OTG controller, graphic LCD controller, major communication interfaces, analog and digital
peripherals.

• 128-bit unique identification (ID) number per chip

Description:
The WAP module is a complete IEEE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi device with a standard serial port or
SPI or UART interface to a host processor. It consists of CC3200 which has 32-bit ARM Cortex M4
Microcontroller with Embedded 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Network Processor. ARM Cortex M4 is embedded to
provide a solution for a variety of applications. No WLAN driver functionality is required on the host
processor. Since CC3200 includes an embedded processor, it is designed to provide standards compliant
wireless connectivity to devices and systems that have a serial port and implement a TCP/IP stack and UDP
connections, enabling a variety of M2M applications at low power and small footprint. It uniquely provides
connectivity in the single stream 802.11n mode, preserving overall network throughput in the emerging
enterprise.

Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE 4.0) Module:
This module is a fully power optimized Bluetooth v4.0 Low Energy (BLE) solution, this module
consists of TI BLE IC , antenna and a 30 pin connector .It is a cost-effective, ultra low-power,
system-on-chip (SoC) for Bluetooth Low Energy applications. The module supports UART,SPI,I2C interface
and upto programmable 23 GPIOs .This device can be used as either master or slave nodes.

RF Wireless Meter Bus Transceiver Module:
This module is implemented using Semtech's RF transceiver SX1231. The SX1231 is a highly
integrated RF transceiver capable of operation over a wide frequency range, including the 433, 868 and 915
MHz license-free ISM (Industry Scientific and Medical) frequency bands. The transceiver is accessible by the
microcontroller using SPI interface. The transceiver is clocked using 32 Mhz crystal. The external antenna
can be connected using SMA connector.

Frequency range : 137 to 1020 Mhz
Effective bit rate : 0.018 to 37.5 kbps

Hall Sensor Module:
This module includes a mechanical transducer which will convert the magnetic rotation into digital pulses
and send it to the microcontroleer using GPIO interface. The Hall effect sensor operates either with a strong
North or South magnetic field. The output of the sensor remains high when the magnetic field is within the
release point values of the N/S poles (BrpN or BrpS). The output drifts from high to low when the magnetic
field exceeds operating point values of N/S poles (BopN or BopS).

Accelerometer Module:
This module consists of accelerometer with multiple functionality. The accelerometer is connected to the
microcontroller using I2C interface. The accelerometer is a low power, 3 axis IC with 12 bit resolution. The
module has onboard regulator which converts the input voltage into 3.3V as required by the accelerometer.

• Selectable full scales of ±2g/±4g/±8g
• Supports three types of motion detection:
▪ Free-fall detection
▪ Transient detection
▪ Pulse detection
• Industrial temperature range support (-40ºC to +85ºC)

  • 2. Processor Module: Low Power Freescale Kinetis KL46: Introduction The M2M & IoT module is a Freescale Kinetis Microcontroller based board with multiple usage applications. The board features Kinetis Low power controller MKL46Z256VLL4 with ARM Cortex M0+ Architecture. ARM Cortex M0+ processors are found to consume low power with greater efficiency. The board features Kinetis K series controller MK70FN1M0VMJ12 with ARM Cortex M4 Architecture. The microcontroller has a maximum operating frequency of 150 MHz, 1MB flash, 128KB RAM, USB OTG controller, graphic LCD controller, major communication interfaces, analog and digital peripherals. Features: • USB powered compact board with multiple peripheral features • On-board DDR2 and NAND Flash Ics • 128-bit unique identification (ID) number per chip • External connectivity options – Two 30 pin male headers for peripheral connectivity.   • 4. ARM Cortex M4 based WiFi 802.11 b/g/n: Description: The WAP module is a complete IEEE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi device with a standard serial port or SPI or UART interface to a host processor. It consists of CC3200 which has 32-bit ARM Cortex M4 Microcontroller with Embedded 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Network Processor. ARM Cortex M4 is embedded to provide a solution for a variety of applications. No WLAN driver functionality is required on the host processor. Since CC3200 includes an embedded processor, it is designed to provide standards compliant wireless connectivity to devices and systems that have a serial port and implement a TCP/IP stack and UDP connections, enabling a variety of M2M applications at low power and small footprint. It uniquely provides connectivity in the single stream 802.11n mode, preserving overall network throughput in the emerging enterprise. The module supports UART,SPI,I2C interface and upto programmable 23 GPIOs .This device can be used as either master or slave nodes.   • 7. RF Wireless Meter Bus Transceiver Module: This module is implemented using Semtech's RF transceiver SX1231. The SX1231 is a highly integrated RF transceiver capable of operation over a wide frequency range, including the 433, 868 and 915 MHz license-free ISM (Industry Scientific and Medical) frequency bands. The transceiver is accessible by the microcontroller using SPI interface. The transceiver is clocked using 32 Mhz crystal. The external antenna can be connected using SMA connector.   • 8. Hall Sensor Module: This module includes a mechanical transducer which will convert the magnetic rotation into digital pulses and send it to the microcontroleer using GPIO interface. The Hall effect sensor operates either with a strong North or South magnetic field. The output of the sensor remains high when the magnetic field is within the release point values of the N/S poles (BrpN or BrpS). The output drifts from high to low when the magnetic field exceeds operating point values of N/S poles (BopN or BopS).   • 9. Accelerometer Module: This module consists of accelerometer with multiple functionality. The accelerometer is connected to the microcontroller using I2C interface. The accelerometer is a low power, 3 axis IC with 12 bit resolution. The module has onboard regulator which converts the input voltage into 3.3V as required by the accelerometer.
