1. Not a Typical Scam Story: Is Cash for iPhones Legit?
I love my iPhone 4; it’s everything that keeps me alive each day. As a cheerleader, a
romance book reading group’s president and a part time babysitter, my iPhone is the only
thing I depend on for productivity, time management and communication. I mean, how else
would my subordinates ever contact me without it? I simply do not want any other
smartphone. When my brother broken my iPhone 3, I was so mad I demanded another
iPhone. My parents wanted me to sell iPhone and get another smartphone instead but I still
asked for an iPhone. For me, there’s just no other better option.
So when the iPhone 4S came out, I immediately wanted one for myself. I mean, why
wouldn’t I want an iPhone 4S?! It has a virtual assistant! It can make my life more organized
than it already is! I dreamt about asking Siri to send messages to all my book reading
members, call my cheerleading captain, make notes for exams and schedule my babysitting
jobs. I dreamed until I finally resolved to sell iPhone 4 and get an iPhone 4S. I tried posting
ads on Craigslist, Facebook and eBay but I couldn’t seem to find the right deal for my baby.
I also wanted to sell my broken iPhone 3GS but no one would buy it (as the screen was all
smashed up). So I surfed the World Wide Web for other alternatives and stumbled upon
Cash for iPhones.
It’s a pretty interesting website actually. It’s way easy to use, it doesn’t have pop ups and
pesky ads and stupid dialog boxes. It’s just a page with a quote estimator. I quickly scrolled
the list of iPhones for my iPhone model and clicked on a button and there it was! They
quoted me $199 for my 16 GB iPhone 4 and $120 for my iPhone 3GS. Of course I was
thrilled! I immediately filled out their form with my contact details and got an email from them
after two days explaining that they would be sending me a box with a free shipping label to
ship my gadgets and sell iPhone 4 to them. I prepared both my iPhone units and shipped
them quickly through UPS. A few days later, someone from their company emailed me and
told me that they were lowering the total amount of cash for my iPhone from $319 to $180. I
was shocked. That was a lot of money which I was planning to use for my Prom dress! I
immediately fired a letter back asking for a more thorough explanation.
2. It was then that I tried to research them and ask around. Was Cash for iPhone legit or not?
Well, my research told me to check if the website had trust signs and contact numbers. I
tried to track their address to see if it was real, and I found out that it was an existing
address. I tried calling their toll free number and I was able to connect (but only after a few
tries because their line was super busy). When I talked to their representative she told me
that I didn’t check the box that said my iPhone 3GS had a damaged screen. Oh yeah, so
that’s why I got such a low offer, my broken iPhone 3GS lost all of its value because of the
screen. Well, as far as I was concerned, it was all but gone. I was still shocked that the offer
went that low but at least I got some new information. And yes, the Cash for iPhones Scam
is so not true. Try it for yourself to find out!
