66. What’s new Windows Creators
Update - 4/11/17
Windows Ink
Augmented Reality - enables users to
view the real world around them,
with an added layer of information or
interaction digitally overlaid – it’s
generally achieved without a headset,
with mobiles and tablets often being
used – and has generated some fun
viral marketing campaigns as brands
have enabled their customers to
unlock interactive content on their
devices. PokemonGo, Snapchat, &
Windows Ink are examples if this.
68. Windows ink also lets you draw on
Microsoft Edge, Pictures, Maps,
Word, Sticky Notes, OneNote, and
other apps that are available in the
Microsoft Store
71. Getting ready for virtual reality. VR headsets and apps from
the Microsoft Store will be available in the future. Also, VR
content on Websites in Edge.
Virtual Reality enables users to see and “move” through a
virtual environment, it’s a completely immersive experience
which shuts out external stimuli through the headset.
72. Mixed Reality - offers an opportunity to merge the real and
virtual, enables the brand to become a part of the user’s
experience rather than a redundant bystander. Instead of
a virtual venue tour, MR facilitates a guided virtual venue
tour, instead of showcasing a completely simulated
version of a product, MR enables the real-life product to
be displayed with additional data or animation overlaid,
providing a deep-dive behind the circuitry to explain the
inner workings for example.
Example : a Roller Coaster.
73. Windows Hello lets you sign in to your Windows 10 computer with a fingerprint
scanner or face recognition
75. What’s Next?
4/20/17 Microsoft announced that major updates
will be released on March and September.
Windows will probably stay Windows 10 and name
Updates differently like OS10 which is now on OS
version 10.12-Sierra. Regular updates will still
come out the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
5/2/17 Microsoft announced Windows 10 S that
only runs apps from the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft Build Conference May 10- May 12 in
Seattle.
76. Fall Update in Sept 2017 Codename Redstone 3
My People - Originally planned for Redstone 2, My People is a new social feature being
built into Redstone 3 that will allow you to pin your favorite contacts to your taskbar for
easy access recent conversations, emails, contact details and more. You'll be able to share
files directly to a contact on your taskbar, collaborate in documents and keep in touch no
matter where you are in the operating system.
Cortana Speaker Devices – Speakers like Amazon Echo and Google Home run by Cortana.
Cortana gets own settings page.
Timeline - This feature will present on-screen cards showing recent and past activity, and,
like several new features in Fall Creators, will work across your devices. Any Android or iOS
device can include apps that talk to the Microsoft Graph, which then informs your PC
about an activity to which you may want to return.
