2. Summary
This course will examine world architecture throughout the
ages. Presented according to themes rather than chronology,
the course will look not only at the buildings themselves and the
moments in architectural history that they represent, but also the
people who built them and the events that were going on around
them. Each new building will reveal a story about the culture and
people who created it while also providing comparison for the
architecture and history surrounding ourselves in New York City.

Each student will contribute both from in-class learning and out-
of-class research by bringing in 5 events each week. Events
could be about history, science, literature, people, places, etc.
GOAL: To see where these buildings fit in to all that you are
studying. Understanding buildings in this way helps to better
understand what s going on in the world at that time and who
the people are taking part in it.
