Biographical Dress Up & Monologue
Directions:
1. Read an autobiography or biography book about your influential or
famous person from history. Due: ________________
2. Use research tool such as: the Internet, Humanities test,
encyclopedia, and the library to search for more information about
your famous person. Prepare notes cards describing interesting
facts about this person. Refer to the Written Report Timeline for
ideas. Due: ________________
3. Prepare a two-minute script describing in detail “interesting” facts
about the person you chose or you were assigned. Remember to
write your script in the first person narrative… as if you were the
character. Due: ________________
4. Create a costume that represents the type of clothing your famous
person would have worn. Due: ________________
5. Bring a “prop” that symbolizes an important event in the person’s
life. Due: ________________
6. Create a background display using supplies at your disposal. Due:
________________
7. Make a name plate that spells the person<s full name, correct birth
date, place of birth, and when applicable date of death. (We will do
that part in class.)
8. Memorize your monologue. Practice performing your monologue
using feeling and emotion. Speak with expression and gestures as
if you were the historical person doing the talking. Dress Rehearsal

9. Make an invitation for family and friends giving the date, time and
location of the Living Museum. (We will do this part in class.)
Written Report: Biography
Directions: The written report must be five paragraphs in length
and include a bibliography containing two sources. The first
source must be a book. The second source must be an
encyclopedia. Written Report Due: ________________
The FIRST paragraph is the introduction and should include:
 The person’s name
 When and where the personwas born
 A brief family history
The SECOND paragraph contains information about the person<s early life
and/or early adult years This paragraph may include:
 Information about the person’s childhood
 Data prior to the person becoming famous
 Interesting facts about growing up
The Third paragraph describes the important/influential reasons(s) the person
became famous and why they are significant.
The FOURTH paragraph explains why/how the person has affected history.
 What contributions did he/she make to our world?
 How did their actions/ contributions change or affect others
 How would life/history be different if the person had never been born?
 Are there any monuments, holidays, statues, etc. that honor this
person?
The FIFTH and final paragraph is the conclusion It describes:
 Why did you chose to learn about this person?
 What did you learned about the person that you didn’t already know?
 Why did you found this person interesting (or not)?
Time Line
A timeline showing the important events of the person’s life is required. The
timeline must begin with the person’s birth date and end with his/her death.
The timeline needs to contain 10 events and may include dates of historical ar
significant events such as:
 Marriage/Family
 Contributions to Society
 Problems of challenges faced
 Education/Career
 Battles/Championship
 Speeches….
