Charles interned at Sunnyside for the summer of 2009. Daniel, a retired executive, convinced Francois to give Charles the internship. Over the course of 9 weeks, Charles learned about the jazz business and digital distribution by attending meetings with artists, downloading music from iTunes, and studying industry manuals. He impressed the owners with his hard work and was rewarded with a successful internship.

5. Week 1 – recommended reading … Charles buys a reference manual , in order to understand the highly intellectual conversations at the office . After one week , he has memorized 350 episodes of Seinfeld and speaks like a local.

6. Week 2 – learning the digital business Charles and Francois are busy at work .. copying videos they have downloaded from iTunes… John, our in house counsel, consults the police procedure manual to understand how the arrests will go down..

7. Week 3 – Artists’ visit Legendary saxophonist Lee Konitz visits… He shows off his shoes (nicer than Francois’) and his white glove to honor the memory of Michael Jackson who just passed away .. Not a word is said about jazz…

8. Week 4 – learning the digital business Metadatos Definitivos …

9. Week 4 – Artist’s visit Pianist and composer Deidre Rodman visits with her newborn.. Francois talks long term

10. Week 5 – Working hard … Charles applies himself and scrutinizes his screen…You have to go back years to find a winning Mets game …

12. Week 7 – Back to the “real” records business … “ Extreme Burning ”

13. Week 7 – Artist’s visit The young man is fascinated by a Cezanne- inspired “drying dishes” display. The gets a hand shake
