distribute our film. Our film is culturally specific
and tries to target social groups which are mainly
associated with Britain. For example, our film
focuses on the issue of underage drinking and
how it effects working class families in poverty.
These themes and subjects would appeal to
British audiences because it is something they
can relate to. Our film also attempts to
interpellate the audience and to make them think
about the problems explored within the film.

• Our film is set in Highbridge, specifically a council
estate. This location would appeal to a British
audience because they can relate it to their own
life. By setting our film on a council estate, we are
able to connect with an audience who do not
usually have their lifestyle portrayed in
Hollywood films. This means that British cinemas
are more likely to distribute our film because they
can maximise the audience and support the
British film industry.

realistic and appeal to an audience who want

British cinemas would distribute our film.

British films like ours tend to have a niche audience due to the culturally specific themes and subjects that the film contains. The main aim of gritty realism films is to make the audience think and challenge their views on various problems in society. • Hollywood films, however, tend to focus on a mainstream audience and contain universal themes which can be understood by people from across the globe.   • 4. Independent British Cinemas • Independent British cinemas are most likely to distribute our film. Our film is culturally specific and tries to target social groups which are mainly associated with Britain. For example, our film focuses on the issue of underage drinking and how it effects working class families in poverty. These themes and subjects would appeal to British audiences because it is something they can relate to. Our film also attempts to interpellate the audience and to make them think about the problems explored within the film. NextBack Home
  • 5. British Locations • Our film is set in Highbridge, specifically a council estate. This location would appeal to a British audience because they can relate it to their own life. By setting our film on a council estate, we are able to connect with an audience who do not usually have their lifestyle portrayed in Hollywood films.   • 6. Controversial Subjects or Themes • Our film does not contain universal themes which could appeal to a mainstream audience. Warner Brothers or MGM, tend to take on films which will definitely make a profit and will appeal to a wider audience.
