• The Industrial Revolution was a time
when major changes in agriculture,
manufacturing, mining, transportation,
had a impact on every day life.
• It was a period from the 18th to 19th
century.
• It began in Britain.
• Western Europe, North America, Japan,
and eventually the world were also
involved.
3. Migration
• Urbanization is the physical growth of urban
areas as a result of global change.
• A cottage industry is an industry where the
creation of products and services is home-
based, rather than factory-based.
• There was a migration of people from rural to
urban during the Industrial Revolution.
• People moved from farms to cities because the
economic problems forced them to get better
jobs.

Revolution
• Crop Rotation is the practice of growing
different crops in the same area in order
of seasons.
6. Textiles
• Textiles were the first commodity to
boom during the industrial revolution.
• Textiles are the branch of industry
involved in the manufacture of cloth.
• Cotton was an invention that helped
the textile industry boom.
• Eli Whitney was the inventor of the
cotton gin.
8. Steam Engine
• Thomas Savery was the
inventor.
• James Watt was credited as
the man who improved it.
• It was invented in 1698.
• It was the primary source of
power during the industrial
revolution. It replaced water
power and muscle power.
9. Bessemer Process
• It was the first inexpensive
industrial process for the
mass-production of steel
from molten pig iron.
• It was invented by Henry
Bessemer.
• It was important because
it was an inexpensive way
to make steel fast.
10. Pasteurization
• Louis Pasteur was a French chemist and
microbiologist.
• Louis Pasteur invented pasteurization.
• Pasteurization was used to heat beer
and wine to a certain temperature so
that it could avoid diseases.
• This was important because diseases
were already a problem and a lot of
people during this time drank a lot.
12. Thomas Edison
• Three things Edison invented:
• 1) Lightbulb
• 2) Kinetoscope
• 3) Cylinder Phonograph
• Thomas Edison had 1,093 patents in the
U.S.

source, frequently starting where the
last person left off.” -Thomas Edison.
14. Romanticism
• Romanticism was an artistic,
literary and intellectual
movement that originated in
the second half of the 18th
century in Europe, and gained
strength in reaction to the
Industrial Revolution.

both authors during this time.
