Which social media networks should
you focus on?
Honestly, I believe that’s a personal choice. You should be using the networks
you resonate with. I put my focus on Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Plus.
But I also use Twitter and Pinterest. Instagram is another good one.
If you are new to all of this, I suggest you pick one and go with it until you get
a good feel for it. Don’t spread yourself too thin or you will get nothing
accomplished.
Before I get started I want to make something very clear. Social media is
exactly what it implies - SOCIAL. Don’t forget that. You are there to build
relationships and reach more people.

Here’s a little lesson in
social media etiquette…
http://thehappypreneur.com/how-to-use-social-media-to-get-leads/
Think about how you perceive other people on the web who have a home business.
There are 2 types:
Those that irritate the
beegeebies out of you
because they are constantly
blasting their links that say
buy this or join my team.
The fun, interesting people
who make you want to
follow them and get to know
them better.
The fact is you should be a lot of the
second kind and a little of the first. You
need to learn how to do both with a little
finesse.

Use the
5 to 1
ratio
Striking a good balance…
• Only one in every 5 posts should be about your business. The
other 4 should be about other things; funny photos,
inspirational and motivational quotes, lifestyle posts, travel
photos, etc
• Use lots of images and less text. We are a very image driven
world. Think about how you scan your social media streams.
The images get your attention first.
• Share things that you find interesting, funny or even a little
weird with your audience. You can occasionally be a tad
controversial, but be careful, you do not want to be conceived
as that person that is argumentative or too political.
• Be positive, don’t be a complainer or whiner.
• Most importantly, be authentic. Just be yourself and have fun
with social media.
http://thehappypreneur.com/how-to-use-social-media-to-get-leads/
http://thehappypreneur.com/how-to-use-social-media-to-get-leads/
Lifestyle photos such as you by the pool or
at the beach with an umbrella drink in
your hand, goes a lot farther in creating an
image of you living an incredible lifestyle
that others would love to live – vs. – you
in a tavern with a cigarette in one hand
and a beer in the other, looking
wasted. Use common sense.
Examples of lifestyle photos – you enjoying
a wonderful lifestyle such as you and your
team, you and your upline at convention,
on company trips and events, you in front
of a vacation home or resort, you in or
next to a gorgeous car, etc. You get the
picture.
Be sure to interact with others. Don’t just
post and expect things to happen.
Comment on others posts, like and share
them too!
Now that you have the basic etiquette down…
http://thehappypreneur.com/how-to-use-social-media-to-get-leads/
Here’s how to actually get leads:
On Facebook, always like and comment back when others
comment on your posts. This encourages them to pay more
attention to you and to interact with you.
The more action on your account and interaction between
you and others, the more people see your posts.
FB actually controls who sees what, not you. Even though you
may have 500 friends, if there is little interaction, FB may only
show your posts to a dozen people.
Be sure not to send too many friend requests in a day and
wait 2-3 minutes between requests.
I don’t know how many requests send a red flag to FB, but if
you do too many at once, FB will put you in Facebook jail. I
usually keep it at about 5 a day when I’m looking for new
people to friend and new leads.
When using the 5 to 1 posting strategy, don’t always shoot
your link out every 5th post. Use that post in a less salesy
manner.
http://thehappypreneur.com/easy-ways-to-get-free-network-
marketing-leads/
For instance, congratulate someone on your team for a job well done, a rank advancement,
earning their company car, sponsoring a new person, etc.
If you don’t have a lot going on with your team yet, use others in the company. You could post a
photo of anyone in your company who has had an achievement and congratulate them. It’s the
curiosity factor you are looking for here.
I only post my link to my products or opportunity posts about 1/3 of the time. Usually, I say
something like “Message me if you want to know more”.
OK, now you have things headed in the right direction. You have added friends, are posting, and
commenting and liking other peoples posts. Now it’s time to do some serious recruiting.
When you are approaching people you know, contact them through private message. Do it
individually, not a group message to many.
Feel them out first. Don’t just start with your product or opportunity. Chat them up a bit. Catch
up with each other.
Always end the message with a question so they will be more likely to respond.
I NEVER ever tell anyone about my business or ask them watch my video until I have had at least
3 messages back and forth. Remember, you are building relationships. not tearing them down!
Never miss an opportunity to connect with anyone who interacts with you.
Watch who is commenting and liking your stuff. Those are leads. Sometimes
they are friends and sometimes they are friends of friends that you’ve never
heard of.
Who’s
Commenting?
http://thehappypreneur.com/easy-ways-to-get-free-network-marketing-leads/
Here’s my private message to anyone that is a friend of a
friend. (First I send a friend request):
First message
“Hey (first name), thanks for liking my post! We are both friends with (first and last
name). I’d like to be friends with you too and have sent you a friend request. Looking
forward to getting to know you here on Facebook!”
2nd message
“Thanks for accepting my friend request (first name). You can never have too many
friends! I noticed from your profile you have (kids, dogs, hobby – whatever – then give
something you could have in common or similar or even opposite). What do you do?”
3rd message
By this time hopefully they have asked you what you do … Then you tell them very briefly
(in a sentence or 2) what you do and ask if you can send them a link to your video.
Obviously, this is going to vary with each person, but use these messages as guidelines.
Always ask permission to send them your video, product info, etc. If they say no, fine. Next! Move
on. Keep in touch by interacting with them on their posts and get to know them. They may be
interested later.

Groups
This is a biggie, so get involved in groups! Facebook and Linked In have groups that you can join.
Google Plus calls them communities. Do a search for groups that pertain to home business and
network marketing, mlm, direct sales, work at home moms, stay at home moms, etc. and join the
ones that are active and look interesting.
Share interesting things with these groups. I am a blogger, so I share my posts with them, but you
can share others posts, quotes, inspiring articles, etc.
When they like or comment, you have a new lead. Contact them in the same manner.
Rinse and repeat!
