2. This restaurant at the Twin Cities airport is the recreation of the original that I designed in 2001 for a much smaller, downtown location. Details, finishes and design concepts were reworked to fit a much different layout. Originally intended to include a second restaurant on the upper floor, this stairway was all that was built of the other concept. 4. This project was part of a five restaurant expansion, managed and built by HMS Host. Design and construction included coordination with Host’s team of project managers and engineers as well as the restaurant owner, his kitchen consultant and the airport development team. It was a true team effort. IKE’S FOOD AND COCKTAILS Entry Stair Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport
6. Bayou is a Southern/Cajun food restaurant with a chef driven menu. The owners wanted a very contemporary look and not a Bourbon Street cliché. Thematic inspiration came from images of sunlight reflecting off bayou waters and between crooked trees. Close collaboration with the interior designer and consultants assured a cohesive interpretation of the design concept. Bayou restaurant Dining Room Milwaukee, WI
8. Forms were developed and studied in model and sketch format. Close consultation with the structural engineer and contractor enabled the expressive deck to meet tight budget demands yet keep it’s key conceptual elements. Bayou restaurant Back Bar and Deck overlooking Milwaukee River Milwaukee, WI
9. The Segway store in Milwaukee’s Third Ward was a multi-functional space. In addition to sales and rentals, they also were a convenience store that sold smoothies. I was brought on to the design team to develop and detail the millwork components and coordinate the food and beverage design with local health department regulations. 11. Infinity Healthcare is a 65,000 sf. Interior build-out of the top three floors at Chase Tower in downtown Milwaukee. As material and service providers for regional hospitals, Infinity needed a strong yet unpretentious setting for their corporate headquarters. Gently curving walls and overlapping curved soffits break up the long hallways and visually tie elements together. Warm tones and textures make the space calming and comfortable. 16. Hersflof Opticians is a small retailer in a large suburban shopping mall. An updated look was needed to better represent their product line and to attract new customers. Because they were adjacent to the mall entry, I was able to employ a sweeping curvilinear soffit with signage that pierced the exterior wall. This allowed both an interior and exterior presence. A feature product display draws the customers into the store. Herslof Opticians View of entry Mayfair Mall – Wauwatosa, WI
18. Creating a powerful visual element at the point of entry creates a sense of intrigue, helping to pull customers into the store. The store also features an exam room and a small lab, located behind a custom etched glass divider behind the sales desk.
