Welc me! to The Chamber’s Franklin Initiative A program of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Initiative facilitates partnerships and programs between the education and business communities that increase student engagement and, therefore, student achievement by providing real world connections. Through the Franklin Initiative, local businesses partner with both Monroe County school systems to promote career awareness and help students develop the skills necessary to succeed in employment and/or additional education after high school. The Franklin Initiative also recognizes and supports excellence in education with the Annual Educators of the Year Awards. The Chamber’s Franklin Initiative partnerships include: · Internships for high school seniors · Job Shadowing for students in middle school and high school · Reality Stores at the middle schools · Collaborative Teaching with business community members · Classroom Presentations from a speaker’s bureau · Career Fairs in high schools and middle schools · Apprenticeship Fair for junior and seniors · Employment Fair for graduating seniors · Workplace Tours for students and/or educators · Scholarships for graduating seniors to attend post-secondary education The Chamber’s Franklin Initiative emphasizes providing students early access to information and experiences that encourage serious consideration about possible career directions and post-secondary educational opportunities. Student achievement improves when the curriculum, staff development opportunities, and work-place learning reinforce each other effectively. Working together, the business community and educators promote real world experiences so students can see first-hand that what they are learning relates to lifetime success. For more information about the Chamber’s Franklin Initiative, please contact: Matt Wysocki at the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce: ( 812) 336-6381 or email mwysocki@ChamberBloomington.org The Chamber’s Franklin Initiative A program of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Initiative facilitates partnerships and programs between the education and business communities that increase student engagement and, therefore, student achievement by providing real world connections.
