Culling poultry
The Anoxia method
 100% efficient & effective in killing animals humanly
according to International standards
 Lowest number of responders needed to operate
 Lowest running costs
 No extensive training of operators needed
 Easy to implement at any given location
 No contact between humans & animals
 Generally applicable, regardless the type of housing or
animal quantities
 Integrates the use of soap to reduce the virus load

Decontamination
The Anoxia technique contributes
to the cleaning & disinfection
process
 Soaks the birds with soapy water
 Prevents contaminated dust to get
airborne during depopulation
 Contributes to the safety of the
responders during depopulation
due to the reduced virus loads
 The soap will help to reduce the
virus load in dusty areas
 Contributes to pest control

 Disposable containers are used
 Culling
 Conservation & storage

Applying the Anoxia technique
Small flocks
 A single nozzle system can be
used to cull up to 12.000 birds
within a time frame of 8 hours.
 The nitrogen source could be a
small size nitrogen generator
with a capacity of 1m3 p/min

Large flocks - broilers
 A multi nozzle Anoxia robot
produces 6 m3 foam per minute
 The Anoxia robot is self-
propelled and remote controlled
 The room can be flooded with
foam
 Flocks can be separated in
temporary pens; the Anoxia
robot fills the pens separately

 Two Anoxia multi nozzle
robots produce up to 12 m3
foam per minute
 The robots robot is self-
propelled and remote
controlled
 The Anoxia robots move
between the Tiers with cages
 The cages are flooded with
foam

AVT session 5: Applying the Anoxia Technique

  • 2. 2 Culling poultry The Anoxia method  100% efficient & effective in killing animals humanly according to International standards  Lowest number of responders needed to operate  Lowest running costs  No extensive training of operators needed  Easy to implement at any given location  No contact between humans & animals  Generally applicable, regardless the type of housing or animal quantities  Integrates the use of soap to reduce the virus load © 2014 Applied Veterinary Technologies Europe AB
  • 3. 3 Decontamination The Anoxia technique contributes to the cleaning & disinfection process  Soaks the birds with soapy water  Prevents contaminated dust to get airborne during depopulation  Contributes to the safety of the responders during depopulation due to the reduced virus loads  The soap will help to reduce the virus load in dusty areas  Contributes to pest control © 2014 Applied Veterinary Technologies Europe AB

  • 6. 6 Applying the Anoxia technique Small flocks  A single nozzle system can be used to cull up to 12.000 birds within a time frame of 8 hours.  The nitrogen source could be a small size nitrogen generator with a capacity of 1m3 p/min © 2014 Applied Veterinary Technologies Europe AB
