2. Physical Tennis
You need serious levels of
balance, aerobic health,
flexibility, and muscle
strength. To improve these
skills try:
- Yoga for flexibility
- T'ai Chi for balance and
agility
- Running, swimming, cycling
for aerobic fitness
- Weight lifting for muscle
strength
3. Mental Tennis
Even if you are physically strong on the tennis court, if you don't have
mental tennis skills then you will likely lose. Mental tennis prepares
you for close matches and enhances your stroke when the time is right.
Having that important edge when it is needed within a millisecond is
what can make or break a match.
To develop your mental skills you can try cognitive-behavioral therapy
which challenges negative thoughts and provides balanced
alternatives.
4. Emotional Tennis
Certain emotions can throw your entire game off- even if you
are the best physically skilled tennis player.
There are many emotions one can play to deter or manipulate
the opponent, like intimidation and threat. Close matches
become very stressful to the point that winning is extremely
significant and uplifting and losing is quite painful,
emotionally.
