It was dominated by a set of marble steps leading to Amalias Avenue; beneath these lies the Syntagma metro station. Syntagma Square is also the frequent site of political demonstrations. On Sundays and official holidays, the ceremonial changing of the guard takes place with an army band and the majority of the 120 Evzones present at 11am.
Acropolis means "highest city" in Greek, For purposes of defense. This is the plan of acropolis, it included three temples. First is Temple of Athena Nike, Nike means "victory" in Greek, and Athena was worshiped in this form, as goddess of wisdom. The Temple of Athena Nike was an expression of Athens' ambition to be the leading Greek city state in the Peloponnese. Second is Propylaea that serves as the entrance to the Acropolis in Athens. Third is Statue of Athena. Fourth is The Parthenon, it’s the most well-known one. The last temple is called The Erechtheion.
