ANTIBIOTICS & LIFE SAVING PRODUCTS

meaning "life" – Antibiotics – are essentially chemicals that destroy or prevent the growth and
reproduction of many types of germs and bacteria. Antibiotics are powerful medicines that fight
bacterial infections. They can be injected, given orally, or applied to the skin in ointment form.
Antibiotic are commonly classified as Penicillins, Cephalosporins, Fluoroquinolones,
Tetracyclines, Macrolides, Aminoglycosides, Sulfonamides, Carbapenems, Polypeptides and
Nitro-imidazole. Of these Core Group has products under Penicillins (Remoxid-625, Remoxid-

from Calcium supplement with Calcium and vitamin D3 combination (Calider), Iron supplements
(Sanger & Sanger Plus) Antihistaminic–Antiemetic drug for nausea and vomiting during
pregnancy (Folicante-D), comprehensive health supplement with a wide range of vitamins,
minerals and other nutrients that contribute to overall health and wellness (Provytal) and
Nutritional Dietary Supplement with Multi Vitamins & Multi Minerals (Alvitina).
Recent study has demonstrated that giving calcium supplements to women during pregnancy
help prevent tooth decay in the mother as well as child. The study revealed that children whose
mothers who took calcium supplement had a 27 percent less missing teeth and decay in both
permanent and primary teeth. The study went on to suggest that taking calcium supplement by
women during pregnancy provides prolonged protection throughout childhood. When it comes
to that the situation is really grim as most Indian women are calcium deficient. According to
Arthritis Foundation of India, majority of Indian women are calcium as well as Vitamin D
deficient. On an average, a healthy woman needs 1,000 mg of calcium per day. But Indian
women have a dietary intake of around 400-500 mg of calcium a day (provided they take two
glasses of milk, paneer and curd). This in other words means that most Indian women have a
deficiency of almost 500 mg. In addition to this they have Vitamin D levels of around 4 to 12
nanograms, as against a recommended level of around 30 nanograms.

3. For bone health, Vitamin D and calcium go hand in hand. Though itself not a Vitamin but a
Hormone-- Vitamin D keeps bones strong, protects against diabetes, tuberculosis, cancer, colds,
and flu. Studies have indicated Vitamin D deficiency doubles the risk of hypertension during
pregnancy. Vitamin D is essential for the Calcium absorption. Vitamin D helps absorb Calcium
from the digestive tract.
Similarly Iron (Fe) — is essential to most life forms. A component of red blood cells and
muscles, it assists in transportation of oxygen throughout the body. Almost two-thirds of iron in
the body is found in hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to tissues.
Women lose twice the amount of iron than men and are more likely to be deficient, particularly
during the child bearing years. Iron requirements of pregnant women are approximately double
that of normal women because of increased need of the fetus, and blood losses during delivery.
A pregnant woman requires 30mg of iron per day particularly during second and third
trimester. If iron intake does not meet increased requirement, this could lead to iron deficiency
or anemia which is responsible for morbidity, premature deliveries and low birth weight babies.
This apart, Nausea and vomiting (NVP) -- often referred to as "morning sickness" is one of the
most common medical conditions during pregnancy, affecting almost 80% of all pregnant
women. Since each woman and each pregnancy is different, the severity and the management
of NVP will vary from woman to woman.

market by its champion brand Moredex-AT (Terbutaline Sulphate + Bromhexine Hcl +
Guaiphensin + Menthol)—an expectorant. By definition expectorants are medication that helps
bring up mucus and other material from the lungs, bronchi, and trachea, promote drainage of
mucus from the lungs by thinning the mucus and also lubricate the irritated respiratory tract.
Moredex-AT eases respiratory function, breaks down mucus and facilitates expectoration.

5. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator to make breathing easier. Bromxhexine functions as a
mucolytic and mucokinetic, and facilitates ciliary clearance of the sputum while Guaiphenisin--
an expectorant, acts by enhancing the output of respiratory tract fluid. By increasing the
volume of secretions in the respiratory tract, it facilitates sputum removal by ciliary action and
coughing. Moredex-AT is prescribed for relief from Cough & cold, wet cough, Allergic Cough,
