2. The target audience that I feel can be most applicable to this
Rock music magazine “NOISE” have a key set of interests and
characteristics. My target audience will gain most of their
media information from there key interests in other rock music
magazines such as MOJO and more primarily from magazines
such as NME. The target audience I am aiming at will also fall
to key conformities of the younger generation by gaining
media knowledge from Television programmes and news
story’s continuously from influences from their parents/friends.
My target audience will have minimum input from the media in
terms of newspapers and tabloid papers as there key interests
lie in the celebrities and gossip of the rock genre. My audience
will have key interests in the rock music genre which will
enhance their interest in buying magazines
monthly/weekly, this also will mean they will take a massive
interest in attending the latest festivals and gigs where there
favourite artists perform which will include bands such as
BMTH and Enter Shikari as well as less established bands
such as Young guns. These will act as key interests and they
will attend these events with groups of friends with the same
key interests. The age boundaries that my target audience will
fit into are between 13 – 25 as the younger target audience
will still be able to gain an interest in the rock genre if not
attending festivals etc but still aspire to do this later in life.
3. Target audience participants who are aged at the later stage of this
spectrum will still take a huge interest as they will have developed a key
interest in the rock genre itself. My target audience will be predominantly
male orientated but some aspects will still attract the female audience as
their interests in the rock genre will be similar to that of the male
audience. Bands such as Kasabian, Kings of Leon and other more
“Mainstream” boy band artists may appeal to the female audience and are
included in this magazine. The participants of my target audience will
generally live in the Southern areas of England but there are instances of
the magazine being able to be accessed across the country, This is
because of the monthly cost of the magazine inferring a subscription
would have to be made which I feel may only be available to those with
the capital to be able to be able to afford the monthly cost. I believe the
audience demographic for this target audience is going to be from E to B-
. This audience demographic has a large range because of the students
who will have little income placed as at one end of the spectrum at E
whereas high earners will be at the B- . On the whole I feel that most of
my target audience will be at C as they are a low income skilled worker
aged 18-25 who are generally “party goers”. Generally speaking my target
audience will be single as they maintain the festival and party lifestyle that
they have. Figures that will have a massive influence other my target
audience are classic rock stars such as Slash however more recent artists
will also act as an influencing figure such as Brandon Flowers (The
Killers). My target audience’s occupation will either be a part time job
performing a low skill labour job or more likely my target audience will be
part of full time education or a student at university.
