The builders had been preparing to move the toilet block beside Room 15 for several weeks. They disconnected utilities and secured the area. On the scheduled day, a large digger created a path for trucks to access the toilet block. A blue tractor flattened the ground while another vehicle backed up a trailer underneath the toilet block. The toilet block was then secured to the trailer and slowly began moving down the hill as children watched. It took over two hours but the toilet block was eventually lifted off by a crane truck and placed on its new foundations, with the process completed within the day as planned.

1. For many weeks the builders had closed down the toilets on the outside of Room 15. They had to wait for the rain to stop and the ground not to be so muddy before they could get the trucks in to move the building. They put a sign on the outside of the toilets saying “Danger” and a board across to stop anyone going in.

2. Before we arrived at school on Tuesday the builders had already started getting the toilet block ready to be moved. Here you can see a builder on the roof taking off the part that connected the toilets to Room 15.

3. But on the Monday the builders had starteddisconnecting the toilet block so they could move it the next day. We watched the builders cut through the wooden deck and take off the roof.

4. On Tuesday this gigantic digger came alive at school because thebuilders needed to move the toilets beside Room 15 because they arebuilding three new classrooms. The digger made a big road so a largetruck could drive to the toilets with ease.

5. The orange digger, with a long elephant trunk, came to Forrest Hill School with other machines to dig out the grass that used to be our cross country track. We need to make three more class rooms at the back of Room 15 and Room17.

6. The big strong blue tractor was flattening the mud and flattening the ground to make the ground smooth enough to back the tractor and trailer up to go underneath the toilet block to move it.

7. Next to the glade, the building removal company called Fistonich used a tractor to back up a big trailer right underneath the toilet block.

8. This is the trailer right up underneath the toilet block. There are men working underneath and we hoped they would be safe. Mr Keoghan said they knew what to do and would be safe under the building.

9. This is Room 16 sitting down behind the safety fence watching.

10. We were allowed to get really close to watch. Rooms 15, 17, 14 and 16 were all out in the glade to watch. We wonder where the worms will now go because all the ground has been dug up?

11. The toilet block started moving down the hill. The tractor was pulling a trailer that the building was sitting on. The men were watching that the building was secure and not going to fall off when it was being moved. It was kind of boring because it took so long to start to move the toilet block and we were standing for so long, but when they started to move the toilet block it was so fast.

12. The deck that used to be by the toilets is still there but the toilets are now moved out. There is a strong fence all around so we can’t get in near the machines and the building when it is being moved.

13. Later on that Tuesday morning, lots of happy childrenwere watching the toilet block finally moved out from beside Room 15. Lots of childrenwere saying “Wow! How could the truck carry the big toilet block?”

14. The truck came from Mackenzie Transport Ltd. It had a huge crane on the back of it to carefully lift the toilet block off the trailer and put it down on the piles that the builders had already concreted in place.

15. The builders are all helping to get the building down in the correct place. They have put down the foundations exactly where they know they should be so they have to get the toilets sitting on top of the wooden piles.

16. Who would have believed that the old toilet block could move to a new place within 2 hours? It looks funny sitting all by itself!
