in the North had an impact on the
farming society of the South.

good/service to market in hopes of earning a
profit

a) Invented by Eli Whitney
b) The cotton gin made
separating the seeds from
the cotton faster & easier.
c) Increased the production
of cotton, which
increased the need for
slave labor.

a) Invented by: Jo Anderson
(an enslaved African
American) & Cyrus
McCormick (the
entrepreneur who took the
reaper to market)
b) The reaper was pulled
behind a horse to make
harvesting grain faster.
c) Increased the productivity
of the African American
Farmers.

a) Improved by Robert
Fulton
b) Provided faster river
transportation
c) Connected Southern
plantations and farms
to Northern industries
and the Western
territories.

7. VI. Steam Locomotive
a) Provided faster land
transportation
b) Connected the Eastern
states with the
Southern states and
Western territories.
