Art Unit Grade Level: 2th Grade
Theme: Music and Culture
Objectives:
1. The students will have the opportunity to reinforce listening skills.
2. The students will be exposed to and have the opportunity to identify the sounds from
various instruments.
3. The students will be able to connect each instrument in relation to culture and location
around the world.
Assessment:
The students will be able to identify the various instruments and discuss the location in
which each instrument is found.
Standards:

Teaching: Attention Graber for the Lesson:
1. Students will see teacher wearing t-shirts with a big guitar drawing.
2. Students will listen to the teacher play the various instruments and try to guess where in
the world that instrument is played.

4. CD with 6 different kinds of music but only 4 of it. Will have including the instruments
that we will be using in class for the lesson plan.

4. Sequence:
The teacher has to demonstrate how to play each instrument.
The teacher has to play and tell them a little bit of their history of each instrument.
The teacher will show them on the map what are some of the countries in America that
using those instruments for makes music in these days.
The teacher will be creating a chart using the seven sounds and she tells them what is the
principal instrument in each the music.
The students can be playing it for while.
The student will have the opportunity of share the instruments with the classmate.
The students will be have the opportunity of share their opinion of what was the best
instrument for them and why.
The students have to sit down and take the mini quiz silence.
The teacher has to turn on the radio with the CD.
The students in the classroom have to identify what are the instruments that are playing in
each sound.
They have to circle at least one of the instruments that are more notable in each sound.
The winner will be getting a sticker.
Extension/ Follow up:
Next lesson they are going to review the previous lesson to help them to reinforce
identifying the instruments and also introduce more news names of others instruments to
help them to increasing their vocabulary.
