The Mackinac Bridge was built on May 7, 1957 in Mackinaw, Michigan. At 5 miles long, it is the longest suspension bridge in America and connects the upper and lower parts of Michigan. Every year, people walk across the bridge in an annual bridge walk, and it remains an important transportation route over Lake Michigan.
