1. CLEAN MEDIA
The following is a true story: A father was having trouble coming up with
arguments against his children’s constantly wanting to watch television
programs and movies that their friends were watching. Most of those
programs, though, the father was uncomfortable letting his children watch.
Finally, he decided to create an object lesson and baked some brownies with
one special ingredient. Eagerly, his kids waited for the brownies to be done.
With the brownies fresh out of the oven, all the children gathered around the
dining room table. His announcement, though, that there was one special
ingredient in the brownies stopped them in their tracks. When he told them
he had put just a little dog poop in the brownies, no wanted even a bite. He
then went on to compare some of the programs they had asked to watch with
those brownies which contained a little of one disgusting ingredient.
Afterwards, he had no trouble with his children when he said “no’ to a
request to watch a program or go to a move.
