Editor's Notes

  1. For our film, we have subverted the conventions of the film American Psycho. We have done this by using a V/O, which is used in American Psycho. Our film title is called English Psycho with also subverts the conventions of this film
  2. In the film White Chicks, they use this technique of incorperatingintertextual conventions into their film from the film Bad Boys. Our film would fall into the post modern comedy genre, because we have subverted the conventions of another film and have created a comedy from this. And from the opening sequence of the film, there is no real expectation of what is going to happen because our film uses post modernism with comedy.
  3. As the genre of our film is a post modern comedy, there is no particular representation of certain social groups. But the representation of our character represents this particular twenty year old man to be a sloppy and careless as we have subverted the conventions of the main character in American Psycho who is a neat and tidy character who takes a lot of care of his asthetics.
  4. The type of film makers that would create a media product similar to ours, would be independent film makers. This is because they are more likely to create post modern material rather than the larger mainstream film makers. Because the large mainstream film makers like to stick to making films which they all ready know have an audience so that they can automatically make profit. They also try to key out the unique selling point of their films, but with the post modern genre,.There is not really and expected conventional unique selling points to these films as they are most of the time all different and do not hold the same conventions and characteristics.
  5. The audience for our particular media product would be young people aged 16-24 as this is the main age group who go to cinemas. There are a lot of comedy genred films that are targeted towards this type of audience. As our film is a post modern comedy, I feel that this audience may fall into this chatigory. The post modern genred films hold an audience usualy of an older age, so I would take that into account when summing up our media products particular audience.
  6. The way that we attracted our audience was by subverting the conventions of the well known original film American Psycho. We used a suttle piano peace which plays though out the whole sequence, as in the film American Psycho.
  7. With modern technologys, film making has become ever so cheaper. High quality equipment can be aquired at a low price compaired to massive film cameras which cost a lot to hire and to develop the films. People can create and edit footage from their own personal computers, instead of having to pay for editer to fit together your peace. This is a major advantage to the british film industry as independent film makers may be ablt to aford and compete with the massive conglomerate companys that can afford to produce films through a trial and error process.
  8. Since we have produced our preliminary task, we have learnt editing techniques in more depth. This is becausde we had more time and footage to encorperate some of these editing techniques to our film. The editing techniques that we used where very sutle, for instance. For our shower sceen in our film, we faded four clips together to give make the time in the film go faster. We did this so that you would not have to watch through the whole sceen of someone having a shower and you just see glipses to get the idea of what the subject is doing. Also what we have encorperated into our final film is, music. For our preliminary task we did not add music to the footage. The music in our film helps the audience get engaged with the aumbience that we are trying to create. But as you watch further into the film, you realise that the film is a post modern comdey that is suberting some of the characteristics that are commonly used throught out a lot of other films. So this changes the expectations of the film for the audience.
  9. The majority of the camera work in our film is still and using a tripod. Some of the shots such as pans and tracking shots are movinb shots, we used these shots to give a sence of location and to give a feel or an insight to the situation of the character .We used a variation of shots sizes to try and keep the audience engaged and created more intrest in our film .
  10. Sound was a very important aspect of our film. The majority of the sound in our film is non diagetic sound, meaning that the source of the sound is not related or coming froim the moving images or subjects in the footaage. But they have been added as extra so that we can tell our story and create an ambuance to allow the audience to engage with our character. The piano peace that we used for our film is rather soft to make the film denit, but the asthetics of the film is what really subverts the convention s of the film american psycho. The piano peace is very conventional to the peaace that is used in the film that we have subverted our conventions from American Psycho.
  11. The most common peace of editing that is used in our film would be the cut. The cut helps to link to shots together and make the footage feel move fluid and continous with the help of matching the action in the edit sweet. We used editing in our fillm to encoperate a sound track that we produced, this sound that has been edited in our film woulds be non diagetic. An editing software that we used was final cut pro. This is the software that we used the most to peace to gether all of the footage that we shot to create our film.Their where also a lot of other softwares that we used for our film such as:Sound track proGarage bandCeltex
