1. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Magazine
2. Our print work used the conventions of a real media product by emulating the design used by our style model “Empire” movie magazine; we used our main character to attract the audience’s attention by having her as the main image on the magazine cover. The magazine cover developed these ideas by using exclusivity to maintain a realistic ideology that other magazines use and also by adding other stories. The magazine cover challenges conventions by using a stereotypical character and presenting this in an unusual way to focus the audience’s attention to ‘read on’ about the movie. The model’s styling within the media product also challenges conventions as this is not as per standard in our style model “Empire” magazine.
3. Magazine website Sub Heading Big title Lots of articles Price Big Picture Smaller Pictures Name of film And a quick review Barcode
4. Poster The movie poster uses conventions of real media products as we have emulated the design of the design used “Burlesque”. This shows two people in black and white and we thought the layout of the poster would work well for our movie. We decided to develop this by contrasting two images of the same person, a good side and the bad stereotypical side of our main character ‘Valery’. We used colour images of her instead of black and white to appeal more to our target audience, and used the slogans “It takes one to know one” to catch the attention of readers. We challenged ideologies by using different styling to appeal more to our younger audience.

6. Our media product uses the conventions of a real media trailer, by using the simple structure of a beginning, middle and end. Focusing on our style model – the trailer to the film Mean Girls, we created a teaser trailer which used snippets of catching shots to “hook” the audience and aim to be attractive.
7. Time of year that it is to be released Names of the people starring in it Text Screens
8. We used many different shots such as close ups and point of view shots, as well as using match on action. Our media product developed these ideas used in real media products, by creating a main character in which the movie is focused around, as well as using several back up characters to support our main actor.
9. This is a well know maker of films and as we wanted it to reach the same market as films like Mean Girls, we choose to use the same company. Paramount Pictures
10. The teaser trailer challenged the formats used in real media products by using a stereotypical character with values which represented this; we interacted with this stereotypical image and worked with changing the characters values and beliefs.
