1. PRESS RELEASE
CroFun, the crowdfunding platform for creative, social, and innovative business projects is to
be launched during the first week of April 2013. CroFun represents a wide range of projects
and will initially launch in Belgium and the Netherlands, to then expand in the short term into
France, Germany and Luxembourg, and therefore becoming the first European crowdfunding
platform. The new initiative is immediately characterised by offering four different types of
crowdfunding with the possibility of promoting a project in different languages.
CroFun is a crowdfunding platform for Belgian and European entrepreneurs who want to get support
for their project both locally and internationally. The new initiative will be launched in April, and will
initially be rolled out in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg to then spread
out across Europe. In addition to a separate platform for each country, there will be a European
umbrella site where all projects with an international nature will be brought together.
With CroFun, your project will not only be displayed on your local site in your native language, but also
on the European platform either in English or in French. If you cherish international ambitions, you can
reach almost the whole world. You no longer need to register yourself on dozens of different
crowdfunding platforms in as many countries.
CroFun is not a niche platform, where the concept of crowdfunding concept is partly lost. It supports a
wide range of projects ranging from creative, social, innovative and business projects. So long as a
project is ethically acceptable, the project supplier has the opportunity to offer their project through
CroFun.
The perfect crowdfunding mix
As the only platform across Europe, CroFun provides the opportunity to create a perfect crowdfunding
mix. So, it is possible to crowdfunding on the basis of
1) donations, whether or not linked to rewards (pre-sale/pre-purchases);
2) peer-to-business loans (loans for self-employed and businesses);
3) investment with profit share on the basis of sales increases;
4) shareholdings.
When it comes to loans, CroFun is aiming to be the eBay of peer-to-business loans. Consequently,
CroFun is offering the opportunity to mutually agree loan terms such as interest rates, between the
investor and project provider.
No all or nothing concept
The majority of crowdfunding platforms work on an all or nothing principle, which makes CroFun an
outsider. Crowdfunding merely based on donations/generous present are therefore always paid out.
For other forms of crowdfunding, a 90% target is employed. The fact is CroFun is convinced that
when someone has their project financed for 90% by the crowd, he/she is able to finance the
remaining 10% through traditional channels.
Social Media
2. These days, crowdfunding goes hand in hand with social media. All CroFun projects are therefore
heavily promoted via social networks in order to create maximum interest and we're not just talking
about Facebook and Twitter, but also on Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Pinterest, Instagram,
etc.
Crowdfunding is about more than just collecting money. Equally, it is about putting a brand and an
identity out into the market, so that the project in question can immediately be market tested and also
get the necessary feedback. Thus, it is very important for the project provider to appeal to all social
networks, and to build a community.
When CroFun starts in April, a number of projects will already be present on the platform, from the
most diverse sectors, spread across the different crowdfunding levels. Therefore, an initial information
session will be organized where 100 interested parties will be in attendance.
