Segmenting CSISA’s Training
Priorities (dealers, service providers,
  state extension and KVK’s) and
   Potential Role of Certification.

Training priorities for input dealers
• Trainings should relate to input use
   –   Seed treatment
   –   Varietal selection
   –   Weed management
   –   Fertilizer management
   –   Pesticide spray equipments and application technology
   –   Pest management including insects and diseases
• Training on these aspects should be crop wise
   – Rice, wheat, and maize
• Training should be organized twice in a season
   – Before onset of season: on first 5 aspects
   – During season: pest management
• Literature
   – 1 pager/crop on above mentioned aspects in local language
   – Monthly message on key management practices of that month through
     SMS/email/web (common message developed by KVK’s, SAU, and CSISA
     etc.)
• Field exposure to show the performance of best bet crop management
  practices through travelling seminar
• Yearly trainings on latest update with respect to
  machineries/technology/inputs/crop management etc
Training priorities for service providers
  • Trainings should focus on
    – Machinery operation, handling,
      maintenance and repair
    – Key management aspects of technology they
      are involved in providing services
    – Business opportunities/entrepreneurship
  • Literature
    – 1 pager/technology wise in local language
  • Provide contact details of key technical
    persons
Training priorities for State Department
  • Detailed trainings on technical aspects of
    key CA-based entry point technology
    including machineries and management
  • Training on key reasons of yield gaps and
    technological interventions to overcome
    these gaps
  • Trainings on new innovative extension
    modules/approaches
  • Travelling seminars
Training priorities for KVK’s
• Trainings on the aspects identified by
  SWOT analysis
• Trainings/on-station experimentation on
  cropping system optimization and
  component technologies
• Trainings on new innovative extension
  modules/approaches
• Travelling seminars
Potential role of certification
•   Knowledge
•   Confidence
•   Recognition
•   Credibility
•   Respect
•   Better quality services to the farmers at their door steps
•   Business opportunity/professionalism
•   Connect to different knowledge sharing
    centers/agencies/institutions
For effective implementation, government agencies should be part of
   certification process.
Potential role of certification

•   Recognition
•   Credibility
•   Respect
•   Better quality services to the farmers at their door steps
